Italy will be marked with the blue flags

According to the information-analytical portal Presstur, this summer 227 beaches in Italy will be marked with the blue flags - this is the 12 beaches more than in 2008. Of these, 113 - sea resorts (9 more than last season). Blue Flag is awarded to resorts with clean water, where environmental protection is given special attention, as well as being careful monitoring of water treatment equipment, waste management (especially harmful production). By number of beaches with blue flag Italy ranks fifth among the countries of the Mediterranean basin (after Spain, Greece, Turkey and France). 

The leaders of the number of the cleanest and safest beaches in the regions of Liguria, Marche and Tuscany, just got to 16 flags. Compared with last year in Tuscany has become one flag more (Pietrasanta in the province of Lucca), as well as in the Marche (Mondol added a beach in the province of Pesaro-Urbiano). Liguria has gained 2 new flag: Savona-Fornachi in the province of Savona and Amelia Fyumaretta in the province of La Spezia. In the fourth place - Abruzzo region with 13 awards. A new flag of the campaign, which has won 12 Blue Flags. In Emilia-Romagna is still 8 flag. 7 Flags in Apulia (two of them new), 6 flags in Veneto (one new). Calabria and Lazio got a new one, collecting a total of 4 of the flag. The region of Friuli Venezia Giulia is still two flags, as in Sardinia. Molise region has lost one of two flags, exactly as Basilicata. Two flags also awarded and lakes - one of them about. Scanno, in the province of Aquila, has recently suffered from the earthquake.
