Basilica San Marco is located in Heraklion on the area of Venizelos. The Venetians built it in honor of its patron. Later, when the Turks conquered territory, they built a basilica to the minaret and converted it into a mosque. In 1956 the church purchased its original appearance. Now here is literary center, the temple is also used for the permanent exhibition of copies of Byzantine frescoes and as a concert hall.
