Christiansborg Palace - piece of architecture in the neo-baroque - centralizes political power. There are meetings of the Parliament and Supreme Court. The palace was built on the site of an ancient fortress, built by Bishop Absalon still in 1167. Now from the castle ruins were left, which you can see down into the cellars of Christiansborg. The palace itself is situated on an island surrounded by the channels through which, nowadays there are 8 bridges.
