St. Simeon is located on the left bank of the Nile . Its Arabic name - Deir al-Anba-Khadra. The present name was given to the monastery of archaeologists who discovered it, although in the early Coptic and Arabic sources he referred to as the Khatri-Anba (Khidr, Khadr, Khadr). Erected in the 6th century, the monastery consisted of two terraces - the top and bottom. Now, he almost destroyed, but it is felt the greatness of the ancient building.
